  TITLE: DIRECTOR OF ASSOCIATIONAL MISSIONS

I.        Basic Assignment: Assist the association in planning, coordinating, conducting and evaluating a program of associational work.

II.     Personal Qualifications:

1.         The Director of Missions shall be a redeemed person called of God fully committed to Christian service.

2.         He shall subscribe to the doctrinal tenets of the Baptist Faith and Message.

3.         He shall have a thorough knowledge of Southern Baptist programs.

4.         He shall have experience in Southern Baptist church or denominational administration.

5.         He shall be a spirit filled man with vision and enthusiasm.

III.   Operation of the Association Office

1.         The office usually will be open and staffed from 8:00am to 1:00pm, Monday through Thursday.

2.         The office will be closed on the following Holidays

                          New Years Day                        Thanksgiving Holiday (Thurs. & Fri.)

                          Memorial Day                          Christmas Eve Day

                          July Fourth                               Christmas Day

                          Labor Day

The Director of Missions will announce which day the office will be closed (before or after the weekend) should a Holiday fall on a weekend.

IV.  Responsibilities

1.         Assist Churches in the association without expecting remuneration.

2.         Plan, conduct, evaluate, survey and study projects designed to discover and meet associational, church and community needs.

3.         Make immediate and long range plans for assisting the association in planning and accomplishing its goals.

4.         Assist with planning location, sponsorship and establishment of new missions and churches.

5.         Lead the association in providing mission and outreach ministries.

6.         Guide in the development of associational programs and give staff leadership in implementing plans and achieving goals.

7.         Supervise and assign specific responsibilities to office staff.

8.         Lead in planning and coordinating a calendar for the association.

9.         Assist the finance committee in planning, promoting and administering the associational budget.

10.     Be available to pastors and churches in need of ministry and guidance.

11.     Make promotional materials available to the churches.

12.     Review, evaluate and assist the association in updating associational programs.

13.     Serve as denominational contact person for the association.

14.  Be coordinator of associational camps.

15.  Be an ex-officio member of all standing committees, except the personnel.

                  16.  He shall not serve as interim pastor of any church.

      17. Prepare and submit a written report of job related activities at any regular
             Executive Board meeting and at the annual meeting.

     V.  Benefits and Privileges:

14.     The association will provide salary (including housing allowance) and benefits.

15.     He will receive off each week Saturday and One (1) other day.

16.     He will be allowed a maximum of two (2) weeks per year away from the association for revivals or other work related functions.

17.     He may attend conferences and conventions pertaining to his work.

18.     All gifts to the D.O.M. received from revivals or other speaking engagements will be his.

19.     Provisions:

a.       Vacation: He will be entitled to two weeks of vacation per year. After five years of service he shall be entitled to three weeks.

b.      Disability: He shall receive full pay for the first three months of disability, half pay for the next three months OR until disability payments begin from annuity, Social Security, or other types of disability policies the missionary might have. Pay is not to exceed six months unless specifically approved by the Executive board. (Pay will be determined on the following: Salary and other benefits excluding car allowance.) In event of the Missionary’s death the wife (if said wife is not living, then dependent minor children) shall receive his regular salary, excluding car allowance, for three months.

c.       Personal Leave: He shall be allowed ten paid days per year. These days are to be used for sickness or funerals. The personal days do not accumulate but begin anew with each calendar year.

V.    Termination:

1.         Should the D.O.M. feel led to terminate his relationship with the association, a notice of two weeks should be given.

2.         The Executive Board, upon recommendation from the Personnel Committee, has the authority to terminate the relationship but should give two weeks notice.
